Denne skriveretreaten er et av prosjektene NAF har støttet i år. Prosjektet er et ledd i vårt arbeid for å fremme et sterkt antropologisk fagmiljø i Norge. Nedenfor kan dere lese invitasjonen fra arrangørene:
Dear colleagues,
We warmly invite PhD candidates in anthropology across Norway to join a three-day writing retreat in Krødern, Noresund (Oslo), taking place 1–3 June 2026.
This retreat is organised by a peer writing group (PhD candidates doing anthropology at various departments of UiO and UiB) and is partially funded by the Norwegian Anthropological Association (NAF). It is open to all PhD candidates in anthropology and allied disciplines in Norway, particularly those who are in the post-fieldwork writing phase of their dissertations (both monograph and article-based).
What to expect
The retreat is designed to provide focused, low-pressure writing time in a supportive and collegial environment. The programme will include:
- Dedicated “Shut Up and Write” sessions for sustained writing
- Optional peer feedback on pre-circulated texts
- Short warm-up exercises to support the writing process
- A writing workshop led by Professor in Social Anthropology Marianne Lien (UiO)
- Space for informal exchange, rest, and reflection
Our aim is to create a constructive and inclusive space to work through writing challenges, share ideas, and build community across institutions.
Practical details
- Dates: 1–3 June 2026, option to leave the morning of the 4th of June ●
- Location: Krødern, Noresund
- Capacity: Approx. 11 overnight participants (day participation also possible) ●
- Costs: Cabin rental is covered by NAF. Participants are expected to cover and organize their own breakfast, and lunch. Communal vegetarian dinners and basic snacks will be organised.
- Transport: The cabin is located approximately two hours from Oslo and is not accessible by public transport, so travel by car will be necessary. We will help coordinate carpooling among participants and have limited funding to support a shared rental car from Oslo. We will do our best to organise transport so that everyone can travel together. If you have access to a car and/or a valid driver’s licence, we would appreciate you indicating this in the registration form, as it will help us plan travel arrangements more smoothly.
Participation
If you are interested in joining, please fill out this registration form no later than the 5th of May: https://nettskjema.no/a/615797
If you wish to receive feedback on your writing, there will be an option to submit a short text (approx. 10–20 pages) in advance. You will be paired with another participant who will read your draft closely to provide feedback. We will try to match participants with shared interests for the feedback pairs. Each participant submitting pages is also expected to closely read the pages from the participant they are paired with.
Feel free to circulate this invitation among PhD candidates and relevant networks in your department.
If you have any questions, please get in touch with Davina at d.k.patel@medisin.uio.no or with Solfrid at s.i.nordrum@globe.uio.no.
Warm regards,
